VIBE

Nigeria's first all-in-one cultural super app — one safe space for messaging, social, commerce, and creativity across every tribe.

Overview

The product

VIBE reimagines the best of WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn as a single, culturally-grounded platform built for Nigeria. Tribe-based discovery, Nigerian language support, AR cultural filters, and hyperlocal LGA-level content create a trusted space where users connect, trade, and create — without jumping between five disconnected apps.

The problem

Nigerians live across five apps at once

Dating, chatting, sharing, and working each live in a separate international app that was never built for local cultural context. Everything is scattered, unsafe for younger users, and products have no sense of national identity.

  • Fun, messaging, and docu business each live in separate apps
  • Feeds are global filters, not local places — tribal language and LGA awareness is absent
  • No trusted 'all-in-one' space for a single community identity

The solution

One app, anchored in one culture

VIBE merges chat, feeds, video, and professional networking into a single experience with Nigerian identity at its center. Tribe-localized discovery surfaces content based on location and language, multilingual support speaks to users in their own tongue, and every community has its own safe space for commerce, government simplicity, and creativity.

  • All-in-one app combining chat, social feeds, short video, and career content
  • Tribe-based and LGA-level hyperlocal discovery instead of global feeds
  • Nigerian languages as a first-class feature, plus AR cultural filters

Architecture

The system behind VIBE

A platform webinar — the individual modules (Chat, Feeds, Commerce) bolt into a core identity and content layer that keeps context, community safety, and one profile concept.

Challenges

What nearly broke the system

Scope of a super app

You can't build WhatsApp+TikTok+Instagram in a day — I structured VIBE as a modular platform, starting from shared identity to core modules, so each surface ships independently.

Culture at the center

Tech platforms usually ignore culture. I designed the data model of tribe/history LGA at the core, so language and locality aren't cosmetic features.

Safety across dimensions

Combining messaging, social, and commerce in one place raises moderation complexity — a single, consistent community layer is the only way it scales.

Lessons learned

What shipping taught me

Super apps aren't five features bolted together — they're one trusted platform with modular products inside.

Culture isn't a localization nicety; it's a competitive strategy.

Solving for 'geography and language first' creates product potential global apps can't.

Impact

Why this actually matters

VIBE's core bet is that cultural identity is a product strategy. By modeling tribe and LGA locality into the platform data layer, every module — chat, feeds, commerce, and language — inherits context, safety, and community.

  • One trusted platform replaces five disconnected apps for Nigerian users
  • Language and locality are first-class, not cosmetic, so content stays relevant per community
  • A consistent identity and safety layer lets moderation and trust scale as modules ship
